CopyrightHaim Steinbach locates and re-presents found objects. Here, he has placed an African mask, a Pol Bury box, and Indiana stoneware from the IMA's permanent collection on a wedge-shaped shelf.
Although the display is non-hierarchical, on a shelf that appears without nuance or artistry, one cannot help but ask the questions: Who has made this shelf? How have these objects been selected and ordered? Untitled equates objects that might otherwise be unrelated, and challenges the ways that museums create and uphold taxonomies.
