Hope, Bloomington, Indiana, in 1944;{2} given by them as part of the William Ray Adams Memorial Collection to the John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, Indiana, now the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, in 1947.{3} {1} See Gail Levin, Edward Hopper: A Catalogue Raisonné, New York, 1995, volume 3, catalogue no. O-324, and volume 4 (Compact Disc Rom) reproduces Record Book III, p. 1, indicating it was delivered to Rehn Gallery on 4 January 1943. {2} Ibid., volume 4. Bill of sale, dated 27 July 1944, from Rehn to the Hopes, is available digitally at Archives of American Art, Frank K.M. Rehn Gallery Records, Correspondence A-Z, frame 1067. {3} Mrs. Henry R. Hope, née Sarahanne Adams, was the daughter of William Ray Adams.
