Dear George,
The trip was as near perfect as it could be, and all arrangements were more than satisfactory. Time-about three hours even.
The weather here has been cool prior to our arrival, but has warmed up since we have been here. Their spring was as soggy as ours. Mother has responded very well, and is enjoying Muskoka as much as ever.
With respect to our house and progress thereon, I wish you would give me a report each Friday covering progress made since the last Friday in order that we may have a good idea s to what has happened during the week. Add to this all present existing obstacles to progress and who is doing what about them.
If Virgil will get enough lathers on the job, and then enough plasterers to push the lathers this present stage shouldn't take too long. In my opinion the business of the lathers is not proceeding anywhere near fast enough.
I think they should also look far ahead and see what the next obstacle will be. Some questions: Should they now be ordering to the job the lsate and marble? I understand that neither has been cut yet. Another: Has the mix for the precast floor slabs been finally given the OK? If so, should they not now start pouring and stacking these, as there are many of them to pour.
Another: Has Saarinen's office given them the print for the extended concrete platform around the house? If not, you might call Joe Lacey to keep on this till it arrives. Then get on Taylor's to find out when they plan to pour it.
Another: Please call your old buddy Maschmeyer and ask when he is going to return to the job and what is he going to do when he comes. In particular ask him to take a good look at each of the magnolias (especially the one to the south of the garage entrance and recommend how it ce watered and (if any) fertilized. The magnolias are not guaranteed, and I want them to get special attention, for, if they conk out, we have no replacements.
As you can see from all the above, I have come to life again, after the first three days of sleeping.
Have fun in the sun.
