MEMORANDUM
Date: December 11, 1979
To: J. F. Dorenbusch, R. L. Williamson, D. S. Weber
From: O. D. Hungerford
Subject: Sprayer and Mower for 2760
Unless I hear to the contrary, I will give Jack the go-ahead on the purchase of a new sprayer and new lawn mower at a combined cost, after trade and discount, of $9,396.45 including tax. The cost of these two items is scheduled to increase by 15% at year end.
We are trading in a sprayer, purchased in 1969 or 1970 by Wayne Doede, which is about worn out and which cannot reach the top 15-20 feet of the trees at 2760 and 608, particularly the horse chestnuts, oaks and London planes.
This sprayer will have more power and more capacity than the present one and, after an allowance of $300, will cost $5,109.57.
We are trading our old Jacobson riding mower for a new Toro riding mower. The old mower was also purchased by Wayne Doede in 1969-70 and breaks down frequently, making it difficult to mow 15 acres one to three times a week.
After an allowance of $400 for the old ridino mower and an added discount of $100, the new mower will cost $4,286.88.
Purchase price includes 2% discount for cash payment within ten days. Purchase is from Kenney Machinery Company in Indianapolis. We have done business with this company for a number of years.
Why so much new equipment at this time? (We recently purchased a used work truck and a small International tractor.) When Wayne Doede came in 1969, equipment was at an all-time low. He replaced much of it in 1969, 1970 and 1971. Much of it is now beginning to wear out and needs to be upgraded. I do not anticipate any additional equipment purchases at 608 or 2760 during the next two to three years.
skb O. D. Hungerford
