Color PalettePrimarily a sculptor, Nancy Graves' 1972 lithographs at Landfall were her first since her student days at Yale.
Aerial landscapes were new to the 20th century and lunar landscapes were in the news after 1969 with the NASA moon missions. Apollo 15 landed in the Apeninnus Mountains region in 1971.
"And I remember how Nancy Graves' Lunar Maps grew out of a set of calculations she was working on at the time, which really fascinated me on account of their resemblance to handwriting."
