- The seascape’s brilliant color, loose brushwork, and attention to sunlight are characteristic of the Impressionist approach Luce adopted by the late 1890s, after his affiliation with the Neo-Impressionist movement.
- This 1908 view of boats on the Meuse River was inspired by Luce’s trip to the Netherlands the previous year. He often made sketches while traveling and created the finished composition in his Paris studio.
