武梁祠画石拓本
This rubbing was taken from the rear wall of the front shrine (Hall No. 1) at the site of the famous Wu Family shrines, often referred to collectively as “Wu Liang ci,” in Shandong (Liang was the name of a certain Wu family member).
Currently assembled into three roofed, three-sided structures, the stone slab carvings were executed around the middle of the 1st century AD. Accompanying inscriptions relate the history of the Wu family, who served as loyal ministers to emperors of the Han dynasty. The carvings illustrate tales of sage rulers, wise women, and righteous and loyal subjects.
