This beautifully crafted ball gown was made by Louis Valentine of Boston, one of the most fashionable dressmakers of the time. Even though a few designer-dressmakers were active in the Midwest, it was very common for stylish women of Indiana to have their wedding gowns and trousseaus made by famous tailoring shops on the East Coast.
