Delicate, point de gaze needle lace motifs adorn this fine handkerchief of mixed Brussels lace. The rest of the floral border is made in Duchesse bobbin lace. Each motif was made separately and later joined to the others with bobbin-made bars, (brides). The patterns have raised work, which creates a three-dimensional effect. The scrolls bordering the batiste center give the handkerchief a less rigid appearance than most handkerchief borders have.
