Adam periodically designed furniture for his architectural projects to ensure stylistic consistency with his interiors. The pieces illustrated in this print were destined for various rooms in Kenwood House, London, and bear all the hallmarks of Adam's progressive, neoclassical style: symmetry, repeating patterns, order, and motifs taken from Greek and Roman antiquity. The mirrors were for three distinct rooms. Below are a dining room sideboard table, pedestals, urns, a wine cooler, knife cases, and an assortment of serving dishes. — ("Eighteenth-Century Furniture Design," May 23, 2009—February 21, 2010, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Conant Galleries)
