Karales, a photojournalist for Look magazine specializing in the Civil Rights Movement, was sent to Alabama to cover the famous March for Voting Rights from Selma to Montgomery in March 1965.
Choosing a low viewpoint and a wide-angle lens, Karales perfectly captured the resolute line of march, silhouetted against a foreboding storm cloud.
