The inscription reads:
Bowing low as in deep affection,
How can he know the stone?
The stone is yet a true likeness,
and discloses its inherent uniqueness.
Best to go immediately
and be added to the vast sea,
and thus to avoid Chuping*,
when he shouts at them all.
During early autumn of the year 1914, painted by the white dragon mountain man, Wang Zhen.
[tr. Kaikodo]
*Huang Chuping was a shepherd who lived during the 300s. When he went off with a Daoist for 40 years, his sheep were turned into white rocks that upon his return became sheep again when Chuping shouted "rise up" to the rocks.
