[Paul Mersh], Galerie Georges Petit, 28 May 1909, no. 96 (illustration), which indicates that the painting belonged to the “Collection Stchoukine.” This is likely a reference to Dmitry Shchukin, who unlike his better known brother Sergei Shchukin, collected Old Masters. {2} See auction catalogue above.
