In the first part of his inscription, Qian discusses the painting by Tang Yin (1470-1523) that he has copied. He notes that Tang used "the style of Li Tang (active 1100), which has no color or dots to suggest textures …"
In the second part, Qian describes the studio as being "at the seventh bend in the river at a most secluded place. On the mountain, there is not one inch of dirt because of the plantain forest of myriad trunks…."
