Gowens, Lagoda, Indiana; given to the Indianapolis Museum of Art in 1990. {1} McMecken was the secretary of Governor James Whitcomb of Clinton, Indiana. She wore this gown to a governor's ball, possibly Whitcomb's inaugural ball.
