This dress is a brilliant example of how Miyake transformed simple lengths of fabric to create a visually complex dress. The dress was constructed by gathering and draping bias-cut strips of cotton and crisscrossing them around the front and back of the bodice. Wider strips attached to the waistline cascade down the dress to form a long, open handkerchief-like skirt.
