The spectacular fabric of this ensemble is made of metallic threads dyed in gold, silver and subtle shades of metallic blue, lavender, ocher and white. The edges of the jacket and tops of the patch pockets are trimmed with an elaborate braid, composed of gold and yellow sequins encased in metallic gold mesh and clear mesh.
The intricate buttons, used only in Chanel’s most expensive couture garments, display small floral motifs surrounded by filigree work. They are finished with brass rope-twist trim over a polished steel plate, which shines through the filigree work.
This couture suit, tailored in a luxurious shimmery fabric, is an extraordinary example of Chanel’s signature two-piece and three-piece outfits.
