CopyrightA third-generation Chicagoan, Ellen Lanyon is a fervent environmental preservationist. Her landscapes seem pieced together from nostalgic postcards, antique bric-a-brac, and clippings from some Victoria bestiary.
Lanyon is the director emeritus of the Oxbow Summer School of Art, an affiliate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, located in Saugautuck, Michigan. The century-old inn featured in Lanyon's lithograph, is the hub of the school.
